Sedalia, Missouri, is the home of the Missouri State Fair (the entrance to the fairgrounds is shown above).
It was also the home of a restaurant that served what they called a GuberBurger, a hamburger spread generously with peanut butter. (Think “goobers,” an old name for peanuts.)
I tried to go to the restaurant, but I was too late. It was closed for good.
But I didn’t despair. “What the heck,” I said, “I can make one of those myself.” I did, and I ate it.
It didn’t change my life.
